Balltribe Introduces User-to-User Messaging

As you are all aware, we still consider Balltribe.com to be in Beta form. We have many new features in development, and thanks to all the great feedback from the community we are constantly adding new features to our development queue. We are very happy today to announce the launch of what we believe to be a very important feature for increasing the social value of the community.

User-to-User Messaging within the Balltribe.com community allows for sports fans and bloggers to send private messages to one another from their profile pages. It is an opportunity for sports fans to ask questions of bloggers, users to send links of their favorite submissions to their friends, and bloggers to network with other bloggers easily to promote blog link swaps or exchanges. Connect With Balltribe on Facebook, Twitter

Hello everybody, I just want to start off by thanking everybody that has been using Balltribe as well as welcoming all of our new users. As we continue to grow and roll out features I would just like to invite you to visit the Balltribe Facebook and Twitter pages.

As Adam mentioned a few days back, we are still currently in beta and “haven’t launched a few of our major features, such as user-to-user messaging, groups, profile page overhaul, and voting badges for your sites.”

As the Balltribe community continues to grow we welcome you to utilize our built in Facebook and Twitter links located on the post pages. These links will allow you to directly link to your social networks to share stories you have submitted or voted on.  That might come in handy if you’re looking to de-throne “Ziggy” from the Monthly Leaderboard Contest.

How Should I Use Ball Tribe?

We have been getting a lot of questions lately from users about how best to use Ball Tribe to promote their content. While we have decided it would be helpful for users if we put together a frequently asked questions page, in the mean time please take the time to review this blog post about how our system currently works and how it will work in the future once we roll out our new algorithm for how submissions become popular.

First things first, here is a brief explanation of our various news sections:

Hot News – Our front page default is what we call ‘Hot News’. This is a list of the recently popular posts from our ‘Fresh’ section as decided by the Ball Tribe community. An algorithm is in place to measure popularity based on a variety of factors related to how the Ball Tribe users interact with a submission. To be clear, not all submissions made by users will make it to the ‘Hot News’ section. Only the best of the best content as decided by the community will become ‘Hot News’.

Top Today – Quite simply this is a listing of the most voted for user submissions in the past 24 hours. Plain and simple, if a lot of other Ball Tribe users vote for your submission, you are likely to end up on this page of the top news in all of sports for the day.
