Excitement brews for Stanley Cup favorite Rangers, ticket prices up 44% from last season

I'd like to welcome TiqIQ as a sponsor of Kukla's Korner right through the playoffs. If in need of tickets, please remember to check them out.

Despite the 0-2 start, hockey fans in New York are geared up about the NHL season. According to TiqIQ, New York Rangers tickets are currently among the most expensive NHL tickets in the league, at an average price of $241 dollars on the secondary market. This is up 44% over last year’s average ticket price of $174 dollars.

Excitement is high for the Rangers, and with good reason. Over the past three seasons, New York has climbed from missing the playoffs, to barely sneaking into the playoffs, to finishing tied for the most wins in the NHL last year. This season, it’s Cup or Bust for the boys in blue, as they enter the lockout-shortened season as the favorite (7:1) to take home the most coveted trophy in sports. With prized free agent signing Rick Nash slated to play left wing on the first line with Brad Richards and Marion Garborik, the Rangers have added some scoring punch to what was already the best defense in the Eastern Conference last season. 585 days
