Living Like Rudy: Why Is It Frowned Upon? | Airing It Out

Everyone, has a little “Rudy” in them. Some tap into it often, some avoid it like the plague, and others never recognize it’s there because they just have luck fall into their lap.

But what remains consistent, is that there are flocks of people that despise a characteristic that comes from the people attempting to overcome all odds. They fire insults at the people who have to use their Rudy traits to succeed.

One of my favorite movies of all time is “Rudy”. Based on the true story of Rudy Reuttiger, it’s a movie about a 5’6″ 165 pound under-sized player who’s only goal is to play football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He goes through thick and thin, works part-time jobs while going to school, and tries to fit in time to train for football. Then finally..in his last game for the Irish against Georgia Tech, he got on the field and recorded a sack before being just the second player in school history to be carried off the field by his teammates.

Truly, a feel good story that should be celebrated.

So why do people want to trivialize a topic like — Tim Tebow (gasp)?
