Jim Tressel resigns from Ohio State – FANATTIC NETWORK

According to multiple reports surfacing this morning, embattled Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel has resigned his post, effective immediately.

In the interim, assistant coach Luke Fickell will assume head coaching duties. Fickell was slated to coach in Tressel’s place during the five-game self imposed suspension during the 2011 season.

Whether or not Tressel was allowed to tender a resignation instead of being fired publicly has not been determined, but this is a reasonable assumption given his long tenure with Ohio State and his reputation prior to the scandals which have dismantled the once proud program in recent months.
