Greg Oden Done For the Season; Chris Bosh's Season Just Beginning?

Filed under: NBA Last Night, NBA Injury Report, Fantasy BasketballI can't seem to find the right words to describe the Greg Oden situation in Portland. And since this is a fantasy hoops blog I will not even bring up the 2007 NBA Draft. I'll merely speak to the implications of Oden's season-ending surgery as it impacts the fantasy game.

Really, that's the easiest part of this discussion, especially since Oden had yet to play a single minute this season. Solution: Drop him. Who do you pick up instead? Well, that's not so easy. With Portland already having Marcus Camby at center and Joel Przybilla on the mend, there is no immediate impact player for the Blazers to consider. You can monitor the Przybilla situation, but even then you're really just picking up a center with his own injury concerns. My advice is to look elsewhere.

As for Oden, it seems like his run as a possible fantasy sleeper has come to an end. You can't hold onto him in dynasty leagues nor should you want to even consider him as a keeper. It's a sad situation, to say the least, but what can you do. As a fantasy owner, you can simply move on. The Blazers, on the other hand... I won't even bother going there. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments 1427 days
